π The Quiet Art of Continuing π
Dear Readers,
πΏ There are some stories we carry in our hearts for a long time before we finally find the words to write them. Some come from the memories we cherish, while others grow from the people whose lives have quietly shaped our own.
π€ Today, I would love to share something very close to my heart with you — The Quiet Art of Continuing, a book I am writing as a daughter's tribute to her father.
π As we grow older, we begin to see our parents a little differently. We slowly realise that before they became the people we know as Amma and Nanna, they had their own dreams, hopes, struggles, and stories. They, too, were once young, standing at the beginning of a life they could not have fully imagined.
πΎ We often remember our fathers for the responsibilities they carried, the sacrifices they made, and the strength they showed when life was difficult. Yet, somewhere along the way, we may forget that there is so much more to their lives than what we have witnessed ourselves.
π The Quiet Art of Continuing is my attempt to understand that life a little more deeply. Through these pages, I reflect on my father's journey, the choices he made, the responsibilities he embraced, the challenges he faced, and the quiet courage that helped him move forward.
π€ This is not simply a story about a father and his daughter. It is also about the things we understand only with time, the love that often expresses itself through actions rather than words, and the many little ways in which a person's life leaves its mark on those around them.
π» I wanted to preserve a part of my father's story in words — not because a life can ever be fully captured in a book, but because some memories deserve to be held a little closer, revisited, and passed on.
✨ Perhaps that is what writing means to me: finding a way to keep the moments that matter from quietly disappearing with time.
π This book is a small offering of love, gratitude, and understanding to the man I have always known as Nanna. And as I write his story, I find myself learning, remembering, and understanding a little more along the way.
π· I hope that, someday, these pages will also remind readers of the people in their own lives whose quiet strength has helped them become who they are.
For Nanna, with love. π€
With warmth and love,
