π December Diaries
✉️ Dear readers,
✨ December is here—a month of reflection, acceptance, and quiet hope for new beginnings. One of the loveliest things about December is the gentle positivity it brings into our lives. No matter how challenging the year has been, no matter how difficult the moments we faced, we are still here—with a soft smile and the understanding that nothing matters more than peace.
π‘ There is something deeply comforting about December; it feels like coming home. After walking, running, falling, and rising again, it is as if we have finally returned. The days invite us to pause, to enjoy the warmth of our rooms while winter slowly takes over the world outside, and to remind ourselves that we have done well this year. Now, December whispers, it is time to rest.
π As celebrations draw closer—Christmas and New Year’s Eve—December reveals its gentle charm. The twinkling lights, soft music, warm clothes, and festive decorations create a sense of joy and togetherness. The world feels softer, gentler, and a little slower, inviting us to cherish these quiet, joyful moments.
πΎ In villages, December arrives quietly. The air turns crisp, life moves gently, and people go about their days with calm and warmth. Kitchens fill with the comforting aroma of fresh sweets, hot meals, and winter dishes, adding to the simple, rooted beauty of life.
π December is also a purple month. The special flowers we lovingly call Decembralu or December flowers (Barleria cristata), also known as Blue Queen or Raktajhinti, bloom in all their delicate beauty. Beyond their charm, they are quietly valued in Ayurveda for their healing and protective nature. December mornings often feel wrapped in soft winter fog.
π I remember my school days in December. During morning assemblies, many of my schoolmates—seniors and juniors alike—wore these flowers in their hair. Half the school seemed adorned with them, and it was a sight of simple, gentle beauty.
π° Some of my best memories belong to those days. My friends and I would share plum cake during breaks and make excited plans to visit local stores for greeting cards. We bought them well in advance, fearing we might miss out later, along with candies to share.
π€ I have always believed in the quiet magic of sharing. No matter how bitter life may feel at times, it turns sweeter when shared. A note, a greeting, or something sweet carries warmth beyond words.
✍️ I remember carefully writing each friend’s name on the cards. And if someone missed Christmas Eve, we made sure the card reached their home by evening—no matter what.
π️ Some Decembers never leave us. They linger quietly in our hearts—like a soft glow, like the scent of plum cake, like purple flowers in winter fog—returning each year to remind us that we were loved, that we shared, and that we were home. And if December holds a gentle memory close to your heart, do share it with me—I would truly love to read it.
With warmth and love,
✍️ Raasi
